Version 2026-08-19
This policy covers two different groups of people: people who have a ChessProAnalytics account, and chess players whose public games ChessProAnalytics has stored even though they have never heard of it. The second group is unusual for a service this size, so it is described in full below rather than buried.
1. Who we are
ChessProAnalytics is operated by Chess Pro Analytics. For any privacy question or removal request, contact support@chessproanalytics.com.
2. If you have an account
We store:
- Your email address and a hashed password. We never store your password itself.
- The chess usernames you connect, and the games imported under your account.
- Engine analysis and derived statistics computed from those games.
- Billing identifiers from Stripe (customer and subscription IDs, and status). Card details go to Stripe directly and never reach our servers.
- The date and version of the Terms and Privacy Policy you accepted.
Stockfish searches run locally in your browser using your device's CPU. Your account, imported games, and completed analysis results are saved by the app so you can return to your reports.
We use this to operate the Service. We do not sell personal data, we do not run advertising, and we do not share your data with third parties except the processors listed in section 6.
3. Your rights, and how to use them today
These are not requests you have to email us about -- they are buttons:
- Access / portability. Account - Export downloads everything we hold for your account as JSON.
- Erasure. Account - Delete Account removes your account and its data, including imported games and derived analysis.
Depending on where you live you may also have rights to correction or to object to processing. Email us and we will handle it.
4. The reference pool: games from people without accounts
To tell you whether your play is unusual for your rating, ChessProAnalytics needs something to compare you against. That comparison set is built from public games collected through Chess.com's public Data API.
As of version 2026-08-19, that pool holds:
- 31,482 games
- 1,266 players who were deliberately sampled
- 4,579 distinct player usernames in total -- because each sampled game also has an opponent, and that opponent's username and rating are stored as part of the game record
We want to be precise about that last number. It would be easy to describe this as "about a thousand players," since that is how many we set out to sample. It would also be wrong. If you have played a rated game on Chess.com against someone who happened to be sampled, your username and rating may be in this database even though you have never used ChessProAnalytics.
What we hold, and what we do with it
- What: public game records -- usernames, Elo ratings at the time, moves, result, date, time control -- and statistics computed from them.
- Source: Chess.com's public Data API. Only games that are already public. We do not access private games, messages, or account details.
- Use: aggregate statistics only -- average accuracy and style metrics per rating band, used to place an account holder's play in context. Reference games are excluded from the analysis pages entirely.
- What we never do: contact these players, build profiles for advertising, sell the data, or show one player's individual games to another user browsing the site.
Friend Review
Paid accounts can use Friend Review to import another player's public games and see a profile of them. If someone reviews you this way, your public games are imported into that person's account. The data is still public Chess.com data, but it is being read by a specific person rather than aggregated anonymously. Removal requests cover this too.
Getting removed
Email support@chessproanalytics.com with your chess username. We will delete every stored game in which that username appears on either side, along with the moves, analysis, and derived training material generated from them, and then regenerate the aggregate statistics so nothing computed from your games survives. We aim to complete this within 30 days.
One consequence worth stating plainly: a game record covers two players. Removing your games deletes those game records entirely, including the opponent's side of them. There is no way to keep half a game.
5. Cookies
ChessProAnalytics sets one cookie, to keep you logged in. There are no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies.
6. Processors
- Stripe -- payments and subscription billing.
- Resend -- transactional email (password resets).
7. Retention
Account data is kept while your account exists and is removed when you delete it. Reference-pool games are kept while they remain useful as a comparison set, or until removal is requested. Billing records are retained as long as tax and accounting rules require.
8. Changes
The version identifier at the top changes when this policy does. For material changes affecting account holders we will give notice by email or in the app.
